While we take clean drinking water for granted, the people of Burundi are in desperate need of it. The central African nation has the 12th highest child mortality rate due to waterborne contaminants. For 11 million people still rebuilding after the 1994 genocide, clean water is the key to health, growth, education and a thriving economy.
The Gazelle Foundation builds water systems that bring access to clean water, new jobs and hope to entire villages. To inspire support, the Austin-based non-profit had to stand out in a city with countless worthwhile causes and events.
We built the Foundation brand from the ground up, centering on a simple promise: $25 helps one person in Burundi receive fresh drinking water — for life. Our signature event, Run For the Water, has grown in participation year over year by up to 200%.
Today, over 100,000 people have new access to clean water, including nearly 50 hospitals, churches and schools. And since the projects are built and managed by local villagers, over 4,000 new jobs have been created.
